Post by BungleBobWhat?!? You can't even deposit money into someone's account these days?
They no longer accept cheques. How the [BEEP] do they expect people to
be able to do things like pay for TradeMe purchases? No doubt they think
"everyone" uses silly internet banking.
The whole world's going to complete crap with less and less actual
*service* from businesses. :-(
Try complaining to the Banking Ombudsman. :-D

It's completely and utterly ridiculous.
Paul made a reasonable suggestion. Are you looking for reasonable
feedback or simply ranting?
Neither a manager nor the ombudsman is going to change what is now
standard policy. Banks have decided this is what their going to do and
the customer simply has to accept it.
Post by CrashPost by BungleBobDoing anything on TradeMe and similar sales is going to be impossible,
unless you use internet banking (which of course is exactly what the
banks what you to do so they can provide even less actual service).
You have had the reasons pointed out to you in previous posts.
I already knew the supposed reason why, but the whole thing is
ridiculously silly. There will be some small businesses that will
simply have to shut down because they can't get paid easily because
banks don't actually want to provide proper service.
For example, the tree trimmer man who comes to our house one or twice a
year to to prune the big trees. We pay him in cahs, but sometimes if
there is extra work to be done, we don't have enough cash, so we have
to deposit the extra into his account at a branch ... which can no
longer be done.
Post by CrashPost by BungleBobThe way the world is going,
you may as well just burn all your money on a bonfire and live in a
shack in the wilderness with no contact with anyone else. :-\
Perhaps your only option. With money-laundering and illicit trade a
big issue, cash is indeed under threat.
Money-laundering by depositing cash into an account is likely to be the
least favoured option. There are far quicker and easier ways to do it
than queuing up at a bank branch to see the one or two tellers they
bother to put on the desks, most of which is via the same internet and
electronic banking that the banks are trying to force everyone to use.
